I once won a scrabble game by making the word “runjogger.” Despite not actually being a real word, I was given the points for the sheer amazingness of the phrase. It has become my favorite way to cheer friends on in running events, and it’s what I say to myself when I’m dogging it. I did the Jupiter Steeplechase this past week and decided that I was going to jog it, being that it was a 16 mile race that I had not prepared for. But somewhere along the way I said to myself “run, jogger.” And that was that. It was a really enjoyable time up in the mountains and I was super pleased to be at a spot in my life where the journey was the reward. I’ve had moments in medicine over the past month that have felt that way to me as well.
