On the Road Again

The past two days have been quite eventful- so much so that I fell asleep in the middle of a conversation last night!  Joe and I got up at 6AM yesterday to get an early start on a morning ski with Dew.  We got all the way to Bridger only to realize that we had left our poles at home.  So Dewey spun a lap without us while we went to retrieve our gear.  Then we all headed out for a walk together to try and find some turns.  We did indeed get some skiing in, however under my swuft leadership we nearly broke our knees in the process.  We charged some very, shall we say, set-up snow!  Thicker’n mashed taters.  But time spent on skis is rarely bad and this was no exception.  Beautiful, cold morning with some of my most preferred company.

Back in town, after a hearty meal of Colombo’s Pizza, we packed up and boarded a plane for California.  We had the great luck to share the flight & a complimentary adult beverage with none other than the gypsy herself, Miss Molly, before going our separate ways.  I also had the in-flight opportunity to finish AB Guthrie’s “The Big Sky”– the best book I’ve read in a long time.  I don’t think any other book has ever made me so sad that it literally angered me to the point where I couldn’t make myself pick it up for an entire week!  I’m already looking forward to his follow-up novel, “The Way West.”  Perhaps the only thing better than living in wild and beautiful country is reading about it.

After a few hours of travel we arrived in Santa Cruz safe, sound, exhausted, and always glad to see Kathy & Earl.  We had an invigorating morning run among the redwoods, a lazy day of visiting family, a delicious Kathy-made dinner, and we’ll head into San Fran tomorrow to hit the interview trail.  Until then.
