The Deed is Done

I awoke around 5:30 this morning (theoretically- it was actually more like 5:45) with a lump in my throat.  6AM was the opening of registration for the Grand Traverse.  I have recruited and roped my fondest associates into joining the fun of this journey and it was only in putting the money down that it became real to me just what we were signing up for.  I am twice as nervous as I expected, but proportionately more excited as well.  Thus, the deed is done.  We secured spots for BOTH teams in this year’s Grand Traverse.  We did a celebratory work-out in the sunlight, Dewey has been on a skimo rampage of the northwest all day, Molly called to share her excitement, and Joey has been toiling away over Google Earth trying to map out training routes.  I’d say we are indeed off to a good start.  16 weeks and counting until the big day.  The training entails long walks in the mountains with some of my favorite people and there’s nothing wrong with that.

If all else fails we’ll do a 40 mile surf safari?!  Training continued today 🙂
